YOUNGSTERS at St Ninian's Primary are pulling out all the stops to make the 'Last Christmas' in their old school one to remember.

This year is the end of an era for the Gourock school as pupils and staff get ready to move out ahead of a switch to a new state-of-the-art building being constructed next door.

And they decided what better way to mark it than to take a nostalgic festive trip down the decades with the senior school.

They will be rolling back the years with old favourites like Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, Mary's Boy Child and finishing off with Hallelujah.

Then the show will be brought bang up to date with the infants performing a Strictly Come Dancing-inspired Nativity.

Primary three teacher Judith Erskine said: "The pupils are so excited.

"They have all worked so hard.

"This is a big year for us and we wanted to make it special."

The primary one, two and three classes are performing Lights, Camel, Action - a nativity take on the popular BBC show Strictly.

Mary, played by Ava Wallace, and Joseph, played by Charlie Pierce, will be centre stage as they try to find some room at the inn.

But all around them there will be inn-keepers doing the tango and camels getting to grips with some funk.

Judith added: "It has meant a lot of dancing for the pupils but they have coped with it well."

Deputy head teacher Siobhan Currie has been head of production as all the teachers and pupils work tirelessly to pull everything together in time for doors opening.

Now parents, family and friends will join in the fun for the old school's final Christmas curtain call.
