PINT-SIZED pupils at Aileymill Primary thrilled their mums and dads as they put on the traditional Christmas story with a modern twist.
Youngsters in P1and P2 starred in the nativity to great applause from their families.
Children had been rehearsing hard for their big moment to give a word-perfect performance.
Teacher Claire Spence said: "The P2 children did all the acting and were the narrators and the younger children did the actions and singing at the side.
"It was a modern version of the nativity, we made reference to a local takeaway and said that Mary and Joseph should have booked a room online and ordered a baby bunk bed from the internet.
"There were a few more jokes about booking a local taxi company instead of using a donkey to get to Bethlehem."
Parents and grandparents flocked to the festive spectacular and enjoyed every minute of the show.
Pupils threw themselves into their roles as shepherds, angels, animals and kings surrounding Mary and Jospeh and the baby Jesus on a starry stage.
Claire said: "We put on two performances last week and the parents loved the show, they said it was really fantastic.
"The children worked so hard and they learned all their lines off by heart.
"The narrators said what they had to without even looking at the words so I am very proud of them all."
