A BUSINESS owner has hit out after criminals targeted her Greenock shop for the second time in as many months.

Janette Porteous was distraught when her A&J’s Party Plan-it store on Union Street was broken into in October with £60 cash stolen.

She was also left with a bill for hundreds of pounds for a smashed front window.

Now the mum-of-three, who is from Braeside, is counting the cost of another attack on her business and she is putting up a reward for information to help catch the culprits.

Would-be thieves tried to break in on Wednesday night shortly before 8.45pm.

This time round nothing was taken as they failed to gain entry to the property but Janette, 40, says she will have to fork out for a CCTV system to prevent any more attacks on her livelihood.

Janette said: "I don't know why anybody would want to do this.

"I'm just scunnered by it."

The incident was similar to the break-in two months ago, when the culprits took a plant pot from a neighbouring business and threw it at one of the shop windows to try and smash their way in.

Janette said: "I think it's the same people but I've got no basis for that.

"It just seems to be too convenient.

"I'm fed up with it and I don't know why someone would do this let alone think they'd get anything, especially after the last time.

"I don't leave any money or anything of value behind."

Police are investigating the incidents and Janette is offering a reward for any 'viable' information which helps track down those responsible.

Anyone with information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
