MORTON manager Jim Duffy helped serve up some Christmas cheer to elderly Inverclyde residents at a special club lunch.

Duffy and assistant Craig McPherson popped into Cappielow to meet with 17 OAPs from Newark Care Home, Merino Court, Larkfield View and service users of Alzheimer Scotland who were treated to a meal by the club’s charitable arm.

The ‘Festive Friends’ project, funded by the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL), was organised by the SPFL Trust in partnership with the Morton in the Community team.

The elderly guests were joined by the Ton management team and coaches from the Ton trust for the event.

Gordon McKillop, operations manager at Morton in the Community, said: “Our Festive Friends lunch was a welcome and humbling change to our usual areas of work.

“Our team of community coaches swapped coaching sessions for dinner service, serving seventeen elderly men and women a three-course feast.

“We were delighted to secure funding to offer this opportunity.

“Thank-you to Craigend Resource Centre for providing Christmas lunch and to Jim Duffy and Craig McPherson for supporting the event.”
