LITTLE stars from a Gourock school were voted top of the pops after winning a Christmas Carol singing competition.
St Ninian’s Primary pupils were voted number one by YOUR Radio listeners for their version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, clinching 44 per cent of the vote.
As part of their prize they were invited on Friday to enjoy a day out at the radio station’s studio in Dumbarton.
The trip was made possible after local firm McGill’s Buses stepped in to provide free transport.
School depute head Siobhan Currie said: “The children were so excited to win the competition with such a huge vote.
“We would like to thank all our supportive parents out there who voted for them.
“We are very proud of the pupils. They were superb.”
As well as the VIP visit to the station, the kids collected £100 in prize money and were given a behind-the-scenes tour and interviewed live on air.
Ms Currie added: “We would like to thank McGill’s for offering the pupils transport as well.”
The prize money will be put towards funds for a new piano in the school.
