PICTURE 1: A Christmas Party picture taken back in 1994 shows youngsters in various states of mood posing for the camera along with mums and grannies.

The Christmas party was always a well attended event and once Santa had handed out the presents the real fun began when kids played games and enjoyed their new toys.

PICTURE 2: Jumping through time to 2010 and some time after the new Branchton Community Centre was built, this picture shows youngsters celebrating the opening of their state-of-the-art music studio.

Great use has been made of the facility and it has helped develop the musical talents of the many  people who have made good use of it.

Today Branchton Community Centre is a vibrant collective of people who are keen to create learning opportunities and provide a service for people of all ages be they toddlers, the elderly and everyone in-between.

Community initiatives based around the centre are more active than ever before, ensuring its future for years to come.

PICTURE 3: This picture taken in 1995 shows cooking tutor Mhairi McGregor with some excellent home baking prepared with the help of Liz Bradley and Marion Stevenson.
Liz is seen holding a five pound note as the cakes would be sold later to raise funds.

PICTURE 4: A jubilant group gathered to celebrate a National Lottery grant for £369,000 which would be used to build new premises ensuring the future of Branchton Community Centre for years to come.
The picture was taken in 1999 and shows a very happy Ciano Rebecchi, Nick Jardine and John Donaghey leading the cheer.

PICTURE 5: Looking through the Telegraph archive it is obvious that Inverclyde’s community centres play a major role in the social and educational fabric of local life.
Over the months I have chosen pictures featuring a few community centres, and no account of these centres would be complete without mention of the very popular Branchton Community Centre.
Branchton Community Centre provides support to people across the age range and gives guidance and help to anyone who comes to visit.
The following pics are some of my favourites from Branchton Community Centre.
One of the main highlights on the Branchton calendar was the very popular gala.
This picture taken under a summer June sky in 1999 and shows kids enjoying the ubiquitous bouncy castle, a feature that always ensured a lively photo at any fun day.
