AS part of his guest editor’s role, Martin Compston has used his contacts book to bring Tele readers a Showbuzz exclusive.

The Greenock actor took full advantage of his friendship with Glasgow-born actor Iain De Caestecker to interview Hollywood star Clark Gregg, who shot to fame alongside Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man.

Iain co-starred with Clark on hit TV show Agents of SHIELD, and the Boston-born actor spoke exclusively to Martin and the Tele about his Scottish roots — and admiration for Sean Connery!

Clark said: “It pains me to say that Scotland is somewhere I’ve yet to visit.

“The Gregg family is descended from the MacGregors and we even have kilts in blankets in our own tartan, so I really have no excuse.

“Iain has promised me some concert tickets for one of my favourite bands there, so hopefully I will make it yet.”

Clark said he was inspired to get into acting after watching Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest — but said he has been blessed to star alongside some fantastic Scottish talent in recent years.

He added: “I saw Jack Nicholson’s performance when I was about 13 and it blew me away, I think that’s when the acting seed got planted.

“I never thought I could make a career out of it though and only auditioned for NYU Drama so I could live there.

“I have been absurdly fortunate to have spent the last season acting with not one, but three brilliant Scottish actors in Ian, John Hannah and the excellent David O’Hara.

“I’d love to travel back in time for a few scenes with vintage Connery, but maybe I’m just being greedy.”
