A MAN was rushed to hospital after he was attacked in Gourock last night.

The incident happened at about 6pm in Larkfield Road.

Detective Sergeant Ross MacDonald of Greenock CID says the incident is being treated as a serious assault.

He said: "A 22-year-old male was struck on the back of his head with an unknown weapon by another male who attended at his front door.

"The man was taken to hospital where he received stitches to the back of his head before being released."

Police say the attacker made off in either a white car or van.
