MORTON kit man Andy Bryan is recovering at home after being injured in a fall at Cappielow.

The 52-year-old was involved in an accident at the ground last Monday and subsequently spent a week in hospital being treated for his injuries.

The accident came to light when a Ton supporter posted on social media saying that the popular kit manager, who has been involved with the club for more than 40 years, had fallen from a ladder after climbing up to retrieve a ball from the main stand roof.

The fan said: “I met Andy Bryan’s dad in Millport who told me that Andy had quite a bad fall from a ladder whilst retrieving balls from a roof.

“It sounds quite nasty.

“Our thoughts are with you Andy.

“And we know how important you are to our club.
“Get well soon.”

Morton today confirmed that Andy was involved in a fall and say he is now recovering at home.

The Morton hall of fame inductee was discovered by groundsman Mark Farrell following the accident.

Andy has hardly missed a match during his long association with the Ton and his absence from the last two games has not gone unnoticed by supporters.

Morton chief executive Warren Hawke said: “He had a fall at the ground and sustained an injury and was taken to hospital immediately where he received excellent care.

“At the moment he’s resting and recuperating.

“We are supporting Andy as much as possible to get him back to full fitness and back to the club again. He’s not well at the moment and we’ve told him not to think about coming back until he’s 100 per cent fit and well.

“Andy’s now recovering with his family.

“He’s a well liked and integral part of our football club and we’re trying to do everything we can to support his recovery and hope he will be back with us soon.”
