A FEAST of music is on the menu at a Greenock bar and restaurant this weekend.

Local musician George Carson will serve up his popular Boat Club Sessions at the Bistro in the Beacon Arts Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The format was launched at the Royal West of Scotland Boat Club on the Esplanade seven years ago to help drum up a crowd and has become a staple of the Inverclyde music scene.

It caters for all tastes with everything from folk to modern day tunes and rock to pop.

George, who lives in Greenock, said: “There’s people who do traditional folk music and some do contemporary stuff.

“One time we had one of the guys surprise us by playing AC/DC and then the next week someone did Britney Spears so it’s quite a mix.

“When we say diverse we mean it.”

Despite the name, the Sessions isn’t an open mic event but George will be joined by award-winning Greenock singer Shelagh McKay Jones and fellow local musician Martin Stephen Jones.

Entry is free and there will be performances throughout Sunday afternoon.

George, who grew up in Gourock, said: “There will be acoustic guitars, some other instruments and a bit of fun.

“We’ll do some folk songs and acoustic versions of pop and rock songs from the 60s, 70s and beyond.

“It will be a good day.”

The Boat Club Sessions is on at the Beacon Bistro on Sunday from 1-4pm and is also on at the Royal West Boat Club on the last Friday of the month.
