TALENTED young pupils at Craigmarloch School hit the high notes at a spectacular music concert.

Sensational singers and magnificent musicians raised the roof off the Port school when they performed in front of their classmates and families at the show.

The event was organised as part of collaborative project with musicALL - an inclusive charity which helps children and young people with disabilities.

Pupils from Craigmarloch shared the stage alongside The Fridays, one of the charity's bands, and head teacher George Walker said the show was a huge success.

He said: "The concert was a fantastic event for the whole school.

"The planning started in September with our pupils beginning their rehearsals only three months ago.

"For our pupils to be able to share the stage with such talented musicians was a wonderful experience and the whole afternoon was uplifting and inspiring for the school.

"Jill Henderson and Mark Browne, our music teachers were delighted with the event and are so grateful for the support that they were given by the staff in the preparation it."

Music teacher Mr Browne added: "The Fridays are a fantastic band. They give so many opportunities to their own band members and the schools and organisations they work with.

"They gave a wonderfully inspiring concert - including several items involving Craigmarloch pupils - and a brilliant Samba workshop, and all young people in the school gained something positive from the experience.

"We hope they will come back soon."

Pupils from the Craigmarloch band played I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers while singers in the school's Red Hot Rock Stars group sang the hit song.

The children then teamed up with The Fridays for several showstopping numbers, including a performance of The Lion Sleeps Tonight with the primary five and six pupils.

Also taking to the stage with The Fridays was the school's senior music group, who belted out The Beatles classic Hey Jude while the school's secondary choir joined in with a melody of rock songs.
