A RUGBY captain is looking forward to the biggest weekend of her life when she marries her soulmate before leading her team out for the most important game in their history.

Dr Emma Grace, who captains the women’s team at Greenock Wanderers, will walk down the aisle today to marry the love of her life Eva Harris.

Then Emma, who is a trainee A&E consultant, will lead her side out onto the pitch at Fort Matilda for the semi final of the highly prestigious Sarah Beaney Memorial Plate competition on Sunday.

The 27-year-old said: "This is probably the biggest week of my life.

"It's a complete coincidence that I'm getting married right before this huge game - I think it's hilarious.

"I'm so excited about getting married, especially as all the team are coming along.

"There's going to be a big party at night.

"A lot of our wedding guests will then be coming along to support us on Sunday.

"At least we'll have Saturday to recover, so we'll be ready for the game."

Emma says the clash against Grangemouth is the most important game in their team's four year history with a place in the final at Murrayfield at stake.

She added: "To reach the semi-final is amazing.

"We've never had the chance to compete at this level so it's a huge achievement."

Emma, who will tie the knot today at the swanky Cottiers in Glasgow's West end, said the ladies team have grown in strength and confidence over the season.

She added: "We have been working hard at training."

Sunday's match at Fort Matilda starts at 2pm.
