A GREENOCK man says he's fed up of repeated power cuts which are impacting on his business.

David Gray says he's sick of being left in the dark due to power cuts in the Gibshill and Lilybank areas of Greenock.

The 50-year-old, who owns carpet cleaning business Chemo Clean, says the problem is not only affecting local residents but is also disrupting his work.

He said: "All the residents in Gibshill and Lilybank are always getting power cuts, it happens constantly.

"It seems to be just our area and nobody else is affected.

"It causes a lot of inconvenience.

"It has affected my business, as one of my customers had no power so I couldn't do anything that morning."

David said the latest power cuts occurred on March 25 and March 30.

The Tele took David's complaints to bosses at Scottish Power who apologised.

The company also moved to reassure residents that repairs have been carried out and more work will be carried out to ensure the problems are brought to a halt.

A spokesperson for Scottish Power Energy Networks said: "We’re aware of an issue with the power network that has affected supplies in the PA15 area.

"This has been caused by an underground cable fault.

"Temporary repair work has been carried out to restore supplies and over the next few days we’ll be excavating around our substation to further strengthen the network in that area. "We apologise for any inconvenience the recent outages have caused."
