A TOUCH of Broadway glitz and glamour is coming to Inverclyde thanks to two local performers.

Greenock actress Emily Ashton and Wemyss Bay actor Kieran Begley are set to star in 'A Night of Broadway' at the Beacon Arts Centre on April 21.

The talented duo lead a cast of four who will entertain musical theatre fans with renditions of stage hits from shows like Mamma Mia, Evita and Beauty and the Beast.

They are currently on a mini-tour and have played to audiences in Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire ahead of the Greenock performance.

The show at the Beacon 12 months ago was a sell-out and is back due to popular deman.

Kieran, who is returning for the 2018 production, is thrilled to be heading back home.

He said: "It's great to be back home performing at the Beacon.

"I was in the production there last year, which sold out, and to be back is a great opportunity to invite everyone to come along and have an enjoyable evening.

"So far, we have been touring Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire so to be back home in Inverclyde means a lot to me.

"The show is informal, with a cast of four singing a wide range of songs that you will know and some new musical theatre songs in between."

Greenock co-star Emily is new to the cast and says theatre fans are in for a treat with their two-hour cabaret-style spectacular, which also pays homage to shows such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Oliver and Dear Evan Hansen.

Emily said: "I'm looking forward to performing in my hometown.

"Growing up in Greenock I would never have pursued a career as an actor if it wasn't for the youth theatre and theatre companies in the area, so performing at the Beacon is special for me.

"I know Inverclyde audiences love a show tune and with songs from Mamma Mia, Evita, Beauty and the Beast and more it will be a fun night for all."

The show, which is produced by Capall Dorcha Theatre Company of North Ayrshire, will start at 7.30pm on Saturday April 21.

Tickets, priced £13/15, are on sale now from www.beaconartscentre.co.uk or by calling 723723.
