A PORT school secretary who became the star of one of TV's biggest shows has enjoyed a hero's welcome on her return to work.

Millions of viewers watched as unsuspecting Lynn Foreman was ambushed by presenter Dec Donnelly during the finale of ITV's Saturday Night Takeaway in Florida.

The Port Glasgow mum's hilarious mishaps over the years were the theme of a hilarious sketch during what was her second week in the spotlight on the show.

Everyone in St Michael's lined up to congratulate her as she came back down to earth on her first day back at work following the break.

Lynn says she's been flooded with messages from well-wishers, including one from top actress Sally Lindsay who starred as Lynn in the sketch.

Lynn said: "It has been crazy - I have had people stopping me in the street, even when I was up in Glasgow.

"I had a lovely message from Sally Lindsay.

"I didn't know what was happening when Dec started speaking to me.

"I was then actually worried about what stories they had actually heard about me!

"The whole thing was such an amazing experience, but I can't believe they managed to keep it all secret.

"Dec was lovely and so down to earth, the same as Scarlett Moffatt and Stephen Mulhern."

The previous week viewers had watched a stunned Lynn win a surprise place for her family to the final episode of the series at Universal Studios in Florida, having been nominated by a friend.

Her husband Scott, who was in on the big secret all along, daughter Erin and son Ross then jetted off to the States.

On the night of filming Lynn was again thrust in front of the cameras to discover show bosses had made Lynn Foreman: The Movie with her husband, best friends and former Corrie actress Sally.

It was the culmination of an elaborate plan hatched months ago to put her at the heart of one of the final's sketches.

Her best friend Sharon Millar had nominated her to take part in the show and it snowballed from there, with one of the show's producers even visiting St Michael's, pretending to be a prospective parent.

Lynn said: "I had no idea what was happening, but I even managed to fall down stairs and lock us in the playground while showing him round!"

Her first big night out on her return was the wedding of St Michael's teacher Katie Liddell, where guests lined up for some selfies with Lynn.

St Michael's Primary head teacher Colette Wallace says everyone at the school was thrilled to see fun-loving Lynn in the limelight.

Mrs Wallace said: "Lynn is a member of staff who is loved by absolutely everyone - pupils, colleagues and parents.

"She's such a lovely, caring person and no-one deserves it more."

Pupil Gabrielle Mullan said: "It is great to see someone from the Port on TV.

"Mrs Foreman is lovely, she is always running about after everyone."

Classmate Tammi Webster said: "We were all sitting at home watching it. Lynn is great."

Erin Stuart added: "When you go to the office because she you need something or you are unwell, Lynn always takes care of you. She is like your own mum and always tries to make you feel better by making you laugh."
