A YOUNG woman was rushed to hospital after allegedly being slashed in Port Glasgow.
Police say that the 23-year-old sustained a laceration to the back of her head during an incident in the early hours of yesterday.
Officers were alerted to a disturbance in Wilson Street around 1.50am and the injured woman was taken to Inverclyde Royal.
A spokesman for Greenock CID said her injury was not life-threatening.
Detectives also confirmed this morning that a 32-year-old female has been held in connection with the alleged serious assault.
The arrested woman is expected to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court today.
