BEACON bosses are set to serve up six new restaurant jobs as part of a new plan to grow the business.

Recently-appointed chief executive Sean Paul O'Hare has identified the venue's bar and kitchen bistro as one of the ways to continue the development of the arts organisation, which opened five years ago.

Following his appointment to the top job in February, Mr O'Hare immediately targeted the waterfront eaterie as an avenue to grow the Beacon as a business.

From tomorrow, the bistro will now be open seven days a week and bosses will soon be recruiting staff to fill a variety of roles, including a chef, events and catering manager and support the existing workforce.

Around half a dozen posts are expected to be created.

Sean said: "As we celebrate our fifth year, and looking ahead to the next five years, we want to expand and enhance the services we can offer the people of Inverclyde by opening seven days a week.

"We're launching a brand new menu this Sunday with new breakfast items and a Sunday roast to top it off.

"As a business that has continually grown throughout the last five years and continues to develop, we are now looking at expanding our already skilled team by bringing in a new chef, a catering and events manager, as well as more roles to support the team.

"We're excited to increase employment opportunities and support the local economy by doing so."

The Beacon boss is also looking to further enhance the venue's core business and continue the focus on local talent.

Sean Paul said: "Every Sunday our bar and kitchen will feature entertainment from a local artist.

"We're looking forward to giving opportunities to local artists to play their local venue every week, going hand in hand with all of the exciting new shows coming up as part of our summer season."

To celebrate the launch of the new menu and seven day operation, the Beacon is running a competition to win a free meal for four people for those who book a table on a Sunday.

Winners will be drawn at the end of May.
