MORTON are on top form - after launching their new home kit for next season.

The faded hoops design was created by Ton fan Gavin MacIntosh and was voted for by fellow supporters in a Tele poll.

First team stars Derek Gaston, Luca Gasparotto and club chief executive Warren Hawke joined season ticket holder Gavin at the official launch in official club stockist Smiths as fans of all ages turned up to get their hands on a replica jersey.

Hawke said: "We had lots of kids in and they had big smiles on their faces after getting the new strip and the parents were happy as well.

"There were also a few big kids who turned out to get their hands on the top.

"The launch went very well and it was great to have some of the players down to meet with the fans.

"Sales are going well so far."

Gavin's winning design was originally one of 12 shortlisted and then made it into the top four before supporters were given the chance to choose their favourite.

It emerged as the fans' favourite with 69 per cent of the total vote, conducted through the Tele and a public ballot in Smiths.

This is the third time the Ton faithful have been given the chance to choose the official club kit following the home jersey poll in 2016 and the away strip competition last year.

Club boss Warren said: "The last home strip sales over the two-season period were 1,670 and that was just the top.

"When I came on board at Morton, and with all the other manufacturers we've had, we never sold more than 500 so this method of fan engagement does work and has really bucked the trend.

"We want our fans to be involved with the club and involved with future strips.

"The red tartan away kit, which we have for another season, is also on sale and 911 of those have been sold so far.

"It shows to me that supporters are buying into fan ownership."
