ST FRANCIS' Primary pupils were first class as they set sail on the Titantic - with VIP guests on board.

The primary five class set the scene for what life would have been like for the great and the good on board the luxury cruise liner before the disaster struck.

They invited their parents and family to take part in the journey, as they put on a play about the doomed cruise liner.

Dressed in all their finery in the Captain's Table restaurant they told the story of the infamous vessel.

Head teacher Ann Marie Mullan said: "I was very proud of the pupils, they put in so much effort.

"We were delighted that all the parents came along and joined in.

"They really entered into the spirit of the day as guests and it was a wonderful turnout."

Pupils demonstrated all that they had learned during their class project.

They explored the roles played by the captain, lookouts and even the shipyard Harland & Wolff.

Pupils made models at home and had researched passengers on board.

Head teacher Mrs Mullan added: "Some of the models were the best I have ever seen, the level of support the children received from their families was wonderful."
