LARKFIELD residents enjoyed a fabulous fun day and helped to shape plans for a new community garden being planned in the area.

At a community fun day in Burns Square residents were asked by the organisers for their views on how it should look.

Larkfield Housing Association has drafted in Community Links Scotland and Rig Arts to help pull plans together for the public green space.

They hope to revamp a mural and establish new planting areas with financial help from the Awards for All fund.

Louise Bacon of Community Links Scotland told the Tele: "We were very pleased to have the families along at the fun day.

"We wanted to hear their views on the space.

"We want to make sure that the community gets good use out of the garden and that they have their say on what is there."

While there was a serious side to the gala event, most of the youngsters were more interested in having a ball and burning off some energy.

They enjoyed games, arts, crafts and gardening workshops at the action-packed fun day.

Now Community Links will organise more events to take things forward, working closely with youth groups and schools on the plans.
