A WOMAN was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital and treated for injuries to her face and head following a robbery in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to Ingleston Street, near to Cartsburn Street, at 12.20am and found a 25-year-old woman had been struck on the face and body with an unknown object.
A quantity of money and a watch had been taken. The woman was conveyed to Inverclyde Royal Hospital and treated for her injuries.
Police believe the robbery started after an initial confrontation.
DS Neil Martin said this morning: “We believe that it started with an altercation between the woman and two other females in the early 20s, who then made off from the area in an unknown direction.”
Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed what happened, or anyone with dashcam footage, is asked to get in touch with police by calling 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
