POLICE in Inverclyde carried out a raid yesterday on a flat believed to be involved in a suspected drugs distribution ring.
A team of officers with shields and battering rams swooped on a property in Larkfield at around 11.30am.
The intelligence led operation saw police smash their way into the flat at the corner of Auchmead and Oxford roads before carrying out a search for illegal substances.
As the Tele went to press this morning, police said drugs had been recovered and a number of people would be reported in connection to the fiscal.
Inspector Julie MacDonald, of Greenock police, said the swoop shows a determination to rid Inverclyde’s streets of drugs.
She said: “This operation demonstrates our continued effort in tackling the distribution of drugs, which remains a high priority for Police Scotland.
“We will continue to take action against those alleged to be involved in the supply of drugs and illegal substances.”
Anyone with information regarding the sale of controlled drugs in the community is asked to call police on 101 or report it to Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
