MUSICIANS who have performed all over the world will grace the stage of a Greenock venue tomorrow.

The Songwriters Uncovered Series (SUS) is returning to the Beacon.

Founder and award-winning singer Shelagh McKay Jones will lead a cast of talented performers from Inverclyde and the west coast for an evening of original music.

The show features Gourock's Barrie Kelly, of Ten Gallon Bratz, Greenock man Jim Carney, Ayrshire rising stars Aimee Penman and Emma Durkan, John Morrison, who hails from Alexandria, and Glasgow's Charly Houston.

Organiser Shelagh said: "This is a great line-up.

"Aimee and Emma are both very professional, highly-qualified musicians who have played all over Europe, not to mention across the UK.

"Barrie also has vast experience and has performed in Nashville.

"John has played all over the world too - he gets called to play across North America and recently turned down a gig in Nova Scotia.

"Completing the line-up is Jim, who did voluntary work in Africa when he was younger and is well-known locally through the Boat Club Sessions at the Royal West of Scotland Boat Club and at Houston Boat Club.

"There's a real international flavour to this concert."

Shelagh, who lives in Greenock, launched the live event last year to showcase the very best unsigned talent and it has gone from strength to strength and gained support from Love & Money frontman James Grant.

She said: "It's become well established and people are really talking about it and looking forward to coming along.

"All the acts we have are so talented and bring so many different genres."

Gourock singer songwriter Barrie is back for an encore having thoroughly enjoyed his SUS debut last year.

He said: "There are so many musicians in and around this area - and good ones at that.

"The amount of folk I speak to from outwith here say that as well, that Inverclyde punches above its weight."
