PLENTY of good sports were on show at a Greenock nursery during an action-packed activity week.

Youngsters at Gibshill Children's Centre showcased their abilities across a range of events from the egg and spoon race to an obstacle course.

Sports day took place during the nursery's annual fun-filled activities week, which also included a visit from the Micro Morton team and popular coach Paddy McAlees.

Parents and carers were also invited along to see their wee ones enjoy the various events.

Boys and girls in the 2-3 room went head-to-head on Tuesday while the 3-5 room were out the blocks on Wednesday.

Craig Scott, the nursery's depute head of centre, said: "It was very well attended by parents and children.

"The children put a lot of effort and practice into preparing for sports day."

Almost 100 boys and girls took part in the event over the two days and the range of other activities throughout the week.

As well as competing for medals and prizes, it was also a chance for family and friends to see first-hand what their children get up to at nursery.

Craig said: "We had lots of activities throughout the week.

"Paddy and the Morton guys have been in doing a four-week block of Mini Morton and we had them along on sports day for a celebration and showcase of skills and what they have learned.

"It was a good opportunity for parents to see what they've been working on too.

"Everybody seemed to really enjoy it."
