DETECTIVES say they are making progress on their probe into an attempted murder in Greenock.
A 25-year-old man was stabbed on Wellington Street in the early hours of Monday and rushed to Inverclyde Royal.
Having initially been left fighting for his life, doctors now describe his condition in hospital as serious but stable.
Detective Inspector David Wagstaff of Greenock CID said today: “We are following a positive line of inquiry.”
