IT was a team effort at a big festival of sport at St Michael's Primary.

Mini champions got into the competitive spirit with a parade of their house colours to launch the extravaganza.

This year winners scored points for each school 'house' - Stirling, Inveraray, Edinburgh and Balmoral.

All classes took part on the day.

The fun started with the parade in house colours of red, blue, green and orange.

The primary ones and twos got off their marks first with flat races and the egg and spoon while primary threes and fours enjoyed basketball and an obstacle race.

Classes five and six enjoyed football and a bean bag race and primary six and seven pupils enjoyed basketball and flat races.

Many parents came along first thing to watch the festival opening and stayed to watch their little stars in the infants classes while others came to enjoy the sporting activities of the older children throughout the day.

School secretary Lynne Foreman says the day was great fun.

She said: "The children really enjoyed the day.

"It was a great atmosphere and the parade with children wearing all their house colours got it off to a good start.

"The older kids were sports leaders for the day.

"It was a big success."
