PUPILS at Gourock Primary have become publishers after launching their own own comic book.

The primary four and five class kids worked with local author Paul Bristow of heritage group Magic Torch to bring a story to life into print.

Copies of the finished product were given to mums and dads who attended this week's launch.

The comic is titled Grim Ghouls of Gourock and is a story the classes created together with the help of Paul and Andy Lee, who created the artwork.

Paul said: “All the pupils were amazing.

"The idea was for them to think creatively and use their imaginations to create a story.

“The comic itself is amazing but it’s brilliant that they created it themselves.

"The best part of the process is seeing how excited they get at the complete product and how proud they are showing it to family.

“The school has been so supportive and their class teacher has been great.

"All their hard work paid off because the parents and guests had lovely feedback.”

Primary four class teacher Lynn Nelis added: “The pupils have been so keen.

"Children who didn’t really write beforehand were bringing in their own ideas and comic books, it’s been great to see.

“Lots of families turned out to support the launch and the pupils have all been really excited, we're delighted with how it turned out.”

The comic book is available online alongside the individual comics created by the pupils.
