ACROBATIC aces are flying high after coming out on top in a national competition.

A talented trio from Flex UK Studios in Port Glasgow won gold and two silver medals at the Scottish Aerial Hoop Championships in Inverness.

Golden girl Zoe McCann, 10, finished first, while Heather Dougan, 11, and Ellie Fabiani, nine, gained second places.

Their teacher personal trainer Natalie McKay said: "I'm really pleased at what they have achieved.

"It's good for me to see my students progressing."

Natalie, 25, has been running the only aerial hoop classes for children in Inverclyde for just over a year and says it's an excellent way to keep fit.

She said: "It's based on a circus art form and gymnastics.

"It's very good for flexibility and strength."

Zoe from Greenock, said: "I'm proud that I won.

"I like aerial hoop because there's sense of danger about it. I like a challenge and I like dancing."

Heather, also from Greenock, added: "I was excited about the competition."

Ellie from Port Glasgow told the Tele: "I feel really happy to get a medal."

These girls are part of Natalie's elite team and she runs four classes altogether.

She also runs burlesque, pole sport and lyrical and contemporary dance sessions.

Next stop for Natalie, Ellie and Heather will be Europe - and a trip to northern Italy for the world championships in December.
