BEREAVED families will gather in Greenock tomorrow to attend a special memorial service which has been organised by Ardgowan Hospice.

The 'Together We Remember' service is taking place at the new Broomhill Gardens.

The lottery-funded Inside Out Hospice project is granting the wishes of families who were looking for a way to celebrate the lives' of those they have lost.

The remembrance event will see reflection poems read out and the hospice choir singing alongside the Albany Children's Choir.

A special flower planting ceremony will then take place for families.

Linda McEnhill, hospice chief executive, said: "Our aim is to offer hospice care to everyone who needs it.

"It seems fitting for us to work with community partners who are supporting people that need a helping hand in life.

"Together We Remember is about creating an opportunity to remember those who have died and to allow those who come along to feel uplifted when they leave, knowing that they are not alone, but supported by the hospice and the community.”

The hospice has invited all the families it has supported over the last year but the service is open to all members of the community.

After the readings the In-Work gardening project team will help families and friends plant flowers in remembrance.

In-Work project manager Alan Maliska said: "We work with over 35 people in the community with mental health issues and provide them with training and work experience to support them into work and to get the best out of their life.

“We are celebrating 25 years of working in the community and we are glad we can mark this milestone by supporting Ardgowan Hospice in this way.

"Planting flowers, caring for them and seeing them grow is one way our team can help and they are so glad to be involved. “

Together We Remember takes place on Saturday at Broomhill Community Gardens and Hub, Greenock, at 2pm.
