A JAW-DROPPING rocket act is providing an out of this world performance for Inverclyde circus fans.

The award-winning Zippos Circus is in Greenock until Sunday, featuring the Garcia family and a daredevil feat which sees husband Pablo hold wife Vikki by his teeth - without any safety harnesses - while flying around the big top in a propeller-driven spacecraft.

Their sons Antonio, 15, and Connor, 11, also take centre stage and finish the show with their extraordinary hand balancing and gymnastics skills.

Mum Vikki, who is from the famous Pinder and Ord circus families, is back in Greenock for the first time since she was a child and says the area is similar to Denmark.

She told the Tele: "My family used to have a circus and I remember they told me there used to be a tent makers around here and they made the tents for us.

"I love it here, there's such lovely scenery.

"It reminds us a bit of Denmark because we were there recently by the sea.

"We've been doing this act for quite a while now and I've been involved with the circus since I was a child so you get thrown into everything.

"It's great to be involved with my family."

Zippos features a cast and crew of 65 and is led by legendary ringmaster Norman Barrett MBE, accompanied by his colourful budgies.

The 'Legacy' show started on Tuesday and is a celebration of the circus over the years to mark the 250th anniversary of its inception.

Joining the Garcias is fearless Brazilian aerialist Alex Michael, who swings and walks upside down while 30ft in the air without any safety gear, plus master equestrians The Khadikov Riders and the rarely seen 'Courier of Saint Petersburg' act, 3"11 tall comic acrobat and showman Paulo Dos Santos and clown Totti and his family.

Ringmaster Norman said: "The show is very special this year to mark the anniversary.

"We start off very traditionally because we're celebrating 250 years and then it becomes very modern.

"This is one of our favourite places to visit and when all the people from abroad come here they love it because of the nice views and because it's a great place to be."
