THE sun shone on the Comet Festival and brought out more than 3,000 people to Coronation Park.
Port Glasgow's annual summer celebration was bigger and better than ever before, with live music and entertainment, community and craft stalls and a funfair.
Headlining on the music stage were the Jersey Notes, who struck a chord with the crowd.
They were supported by a whole host of top local talent, including Jack Vize and his band, and the day finished with a performance from The Gift.
The Woopi Singers and the May Hughes of Dance also entertained festivalgoers.
The tea tent, which was run by the volunteers of the Salvation Army this year, was a great success and the home baking proved very popular.
Depute Provost David Wilson officially opened the event and welcomed along the Gala Queen Alyssa Cunningham, from St Francis' Primary, and Gala King Cadan Arthur, from Newark Primary.
Depute Provost Wilson said: "Saturday at the Comet Festival was a great success.
"We were delighted to see so many people come along to support this traditional event in Port Glasgow.
"Alyssa and Cadan looked very regal in their beautiful outfits and were a credit to their school and families."
