THE King's Oak community marked the start of the summer in style with a fabulous fete raising more than £1,000.

The school's parent council organised the event which was voted a great success.

There was something for everyone, with loads of activities on offer.

Two of the most popular attractions at the fun family event were the disco bounce and a visit from some ponies.

Once everyone had worked up an appetite they tucked into delicious hot dog snacks.

Jackie Thomson, secretary of the parent council, said: "It went really well.

"It was a very good fete and busy.

"There were hot dogs and home baking in the hub and in the hall we had the disco bounce, raffle, tombola and craft stalls."

Mrs Thomson says she was delighted with the amount raised.

She said: "We raised £1,100.

"We're quite pleased with that.

"This money will go towards school funds."
