MEMBERS of a local singing group hit the right note as they entertained elderly residents at a Greenock sheltered housing complex.

The Clydeside Singers held a vintage afternoon tea dance at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Union Street as part of their Making Every Moment Special campaign.

The hall was packed and the group were supported by staff from M&S in Port Glasgow, who are Clydeside's community partners for 2017/18.

Tricia Speedie, store manager, was on hand to ensure the event was a success along with Kay Boyle, Graeme Campbell, Rhona MacDonald, Scott Nichols and Jane Ahlfeld.

They started the day by painting the banners before the guests arrived and during the afternoon they served tea and coffee to everyone.

The highlight came when they M&S workers learned the choreography and lyrics to ‘Let's face the music and dance’ before performing it for the crowd.

Money made from the catering, donated by Baked with Love, will be donated to Mary’s Meals.

Mary Greig, of Clydeside Singers said: “The event was a huge success.

“When the event was in full swing the staff from M&S performed superbly."

The Clydeside Singers go around the community providing music therapy and have been active for over eight years.

They meet every Tuesday afternoon at the Little Sisters of the Poor from 12.30pm until 2.30pm.

There is no audition and the only requirements are a 'love of singing and a sense of humour'.
