SCHOOL might be out - but Aileymill Primary is a hive of activity with loads of holiday fun for local families.

Parents and children are enjoying quality time together with plenty of activities to keep everyone amused - all for free - such as arts, crafts, Bookbug and healthy cooking classes.

At the same time family support workers are on hand to point parents in the direction of training and learning.

Councillor Natasha Murphy, who works in youth services and has volunteered at the hubs in the past, said: "It is such a great opportunity for families.

"It takes some of the burden away from parents during the summer holidays by providing activities.

"It is also about continuing education - parents are taking the chance to find out more about learning opportunities out there for themselves."

The club is run through the Inverclyde attainment challenge, with family support workers from the council's early years, community learning and development team and library services all involved along with representatives from children's charity Barnardo's.

Cllr Murphy said: "The staff do a great job.

"They are working throughout term time and then keep it going through the summer holidays, which is very important."
