A BRAVE Greenock man who is battling motor neurone disease has signed up a former Celtic captain for his fundraising campaign to help other sufferers.

Donald Miller, also known as Donza, and his wife Michelle have organised a big charity night in aid of MND Scotland.

They want to show their support for the lifeline organisation and raise awareness of the need for more research into the incurable condition.

The huge Celtic fan will be joined on the night by former Parkhead skipper Tom Boyd and the author John Paul Dyke.

Michelle, 54, who cares for her husband round-the-clock, said: "Doing tbhis kind of thing is very important to us.

"You just have to keep positive and we want to do something to help the charity.

"They have been good to us and we need to keep raising awareness."

The charity bash will be held in the Greenock Celtic Supporters' Club.

Michelle said: "Donza goes to the Celtic games and he knows Tom Boyd as he is the ambassador for the disabled supporters.

"It should be a good night and we just hope to sell as many tickets as we can."

Popular Donald, who is 55, was diagnosed with the degenerative life-limiting condition 11 years ago.

It causes irreparable damage to the central nervous system and has severely affected his mobility, speech and makes it difficult for him to eat or drink.

With the support of his wife and three children Paul, 34, David, 31 and Danielle, 26, and grandchildren, he has continued to fight it against all the odds.

At their charity they have some top prizes up for grabs including a strip signed by Celtic fans' favourite Kieran Tierney, as well as tours of both Celtic Park and Ibrox.

The charity night takes place on Friday July 27 and tickets priced £10 are available from the club or by contacting Michelle on 07588123469.
