THERE was double trouble on the bowling green as a twin brother and sister battled it out in a bid to reign supreme.

This year's under-16s Inverclyde Youth Championship final was a real family affair for 13-year-olds Megan and Fraser Craig.

They made it through to the final of the Greenock and District Tournament and then went head to head.

It was a nail-biting match from beginning to end and dad Grant could barely watch.

With the score all square at 5-5 golden girl Megan's last bowl proved decisive and her brother Fraser settled for silver.

Megan, who is a member of Kilmacolm along with her brother and dad, said: "I was over the moon to win.

"We are so competitive but we do support one another when we are not playing against each other."

Fraser, who plays bowling for the county, added: "I will be desperate to win next time."

Dad Grant felt it was a fair result in the end for the Port Glasgow High pair.

He said: "They have always been competitive with one another but the most important thing is that it is fun.

"I think Megan deserved the win but it was very close and they are both very good.

"Fraser plays for the county against guys a lot older than he is."

In the summer the pair are on the green but in the winter they are both on ice, playing ice hockey for Kilmarnock while keeper Megan is also a star of the Scotland ladies team.
