Harbour crash ferry in for repairs
A DAMAGED CalMac ferry which hit a harbour wall is in Greenock for repairs.
The 95-metre, 5,000 tonne Caledonian Isles hit a harbour wall at Ardrossan, Ayrshire, last Tuesday.
A total of 227 people were stuck on the passenger ferry for an hour after the incident.
The vessel, which sails the busy Ardrossan to Arran crossing, is at the Garvel Clyde yard for repairs.
Another CalMac ferry, the Isle of Mull, also fell foul of strong winds on Saturday when it collided with Oban pier and damaged its bow.
It was carrying 177 passengers at the time.
Garvel Clyde have had a busy beginning to 2012.
The Telegraph reported last month how the local firm was celebrating a bumper start to the year after completing a series of high profile jobs.
The Hebridean Princess, a luxury liner which is a favourite of the Queen, has been revamped there and they also repaired and overhauled two large CalMac passenger vessels in two weeks.
