A SCHOOL pupil from Gourock has hit a high five after securing straight As in her exams – on her birthday.

It was double delight for Inverclyde Academy S5 student Chevonne Bell who turned 17 on the same day she received top marks in her Highers.

Chevonne, who lives in Barmouth Avenue, secured As in English, maths, admin and IT, geography and chemistry.

The talented teenager also aced her prelims, and her National 5s last term.

Chevonne received her SQA certificate from Royal Mail postman Sean Brian at 8am this morning.

She told the Telegraph: “It hasn’t registered yet.

“I’m really happy that all my hard work has paid off.

“It’s the best birthday present ever.”

The talented teenager will now celebrate – with her first driving lesson.
She plans to stay on for sixth year and hopes to become a maths or primary school teacher.

Her nana Catherine Bell said: “She’s done very well, I’m very proud of her.
“Inverclyde Academy and her primary school, the old Highlanders’ Academy, have been fantastic.”

Alan Drysdale, manager of the Royal Mail sorting office in Greenock was also there to share the good news with the family.

He said: “Congratulations to Chevonne.

“It’s always nice to make sure the certificate gets there on time because it’s one of the most important documents pupils will get in their lives.”
