AN INDUSTRIAL forklift driver escaped with minor injuries when his machine collapsed and smashed into a van on a Gourock building site.

The transit van was crushed by the heavy lifting plant machinery in the accident at the former Gantock Hotel site.

An onlooker said: “It is an absolute miracle no one was injured in this. If someone had been in the van it would be a different story.”

Police were called to the former Gantock site in Cloch Road around 2pm on Friday.

It is being developed into a exclusive luxury home development.

Minor disruption has been caused to traffic in the area as a result.
