LITTLE bookworms gathered for a special story telling session at Gourock Library.
Children from Binnie Street Children’s Centre enjoyed singing songs and listening to stories and rhymes at a special Bookbug event.
The sessions were held to launch the Bookbug Library Challenge.
Dorothy McCormick, who is depute head of the centre, said: “The children had a fantastic time.
“All the children had the chance to enjoy sessions run over three days.”
Dorothy believes Bookbug is a great way to get children interested in reading from an early age.
She added: “We have staff who are Bookbug-trained and one of our staff members is going to be a trainer.
“There is a big push on literacy and English.
“We read the children stories every day and also have a lending library so that the children can take books home with them.”
The challenge is open to kids aged five and under.
Children will receive a Bookbug Collector’s Card when they join up and there are illustrated certificates to collect along the way.
Youngsters who receive two or more certificates will be invited along to a Bookbug Party in May.
