MORTON star Ross Forbes has been honoured with the last ever award from a respected Ton fans’ group.

The midfielder picked up the final player of the season gong from the Albert Hotel Morton Supporters Club following a vote by members.

The award is the last from the fans’ group after 22 years after a change of name and and venue this summer.

It has now been renamed the Gourock Morton Supporters Travel Club and will leave from the town’s Royalle Club.

Following a hectic end to the season with Morton reaching the Premiership play-offs, the trophy presentation took place at Parklea this week with new committee member Mark Withers doing the honours.

Forbes said: “It’s always nice to get awards like this, especially when it comes from fans who appreciate what you’ve done during the season and it’s not just me, the team had a great season as well.”

Gourock man Mark, along with Connor Woods, James Binnie and Dean McKinnon, are taking over the reins and will be assisted by existing committee members.
