A GOUROCK man has admitted causing the tragic death of a McGill's bus driver on the A78.
Daniel Nelis, 48, struck driver Keith Everett who was on a motorbike at the time, after crossing the centre line into the path of the bike on the coastal road near Skelmorlie last July.
Emergency services raced to the scene on the A78 and the 28-year-old was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
Medics battled to save him but he lost his fight for life the next day.
Nelis, an employment adviser from Tantallon Avenue, Gourock, admitted causing death by careless driving in the head-on crash last July when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court. He will be sentenced later this month.
Mr Everett was studying for a college degree and worked as a part-time bus driver for Greenock firm McGill's.
He was heading home to Kilbirnie in Ayrshire when he was involved in the crash - and it later emerged he had only bought the 125cc bike four weeks before to travel to and from work.
McGill's depot supervisor William Baxter visited Mr Everett's parents to pass on the firm's condolences and to give them a collection on behalf of management and colleagues shortly after his death.
He told the Telegraph last year: "It was a shock for everyone. He came in here that morning and left to go home about 3.30pm - the road was closed but we didn't hear what had happened until the next morning.
"Keith was a very nice young man and got on very well with passengers and fellow colleagues. He was a confident driver and knew the road well."
