TWO talented brothers stunned golfers after each sinking a hole-in-one at the same green.
Pint-sized Alistair Taylor, eight, aced the short seventh at Gourock Golf Course, only to find his older brother Greg, 12, had already managed the same feat there.
Proud schoolboy Alistair - who only took up golf this season - said: “Because you can’t see the green, I actually played a provisional ball off the tee because I thought my first was lost. I couldn’t believe it when I found it in the hole.”
Despite his younger brother’s ace on Thursday morning, Greg is still ahead in the bragging rights as he has since bagged another hole-in-one at Greenock Golf Course.
He said: “I got my hole-in-one at the same hole in Gourock two years ago, and it’s great Alistair has managed it now too. I’m proud of him - but I’m still one ahead.”
Both boys used a driver off the tee to smash the ball 155 yards uphill and into the cup at the tricky par three.
Jed Turley, junior sub committee convener, said: “For an eight-year-old even to hit the ball that far is quite unique, so getting a hole-in-one is a tremendous achievement. Our fees are going down to give more boys the chance to join next year.”
Proud dad Hugh and his wife, Fiona, from Murray Place, Gourock, are delighted at their sons’ sporting achievements.
Hugh said: “I am just happy to see them doing well. They are very talented for their age at golf and football, and we are very proud of the two of them.”
Fiona added: “The boys have spent their whole summer at the golf course. All the older members are really supportive and they’re thoroughly enjoying themselves.”
The siblings also train with Rangers boys’ football club at Murray Park every week. And both have their hearts set on a soccer career. Greg said: “I enjoy golf, but if it came to a choice then football wins every time.”
