NEW ferry routes from Gourock - including a Clyde coast shuttle service - have been called for by an influential passenger group.

Transport Scotland will be asked to consider new routes from Gourock ferry terminal for car and passenger services following a meeting of the Clyde Ferries User Group.

The meeting, which took place in Largs, was chaired by Gourock councillor George White, right.

He told the Telegraph: "It was a very positive meeting with representatives across the Clyde area.

"There was a real desire to be forward thinking and ask Transport Scotland to review and consider new services.

"There was full approval to commence a new car and passenger service from Gourock to Helensburgh and consider the introduction of a Clyde Coast Shuttle Service which would run from Rothesay to Wemyss Bay to Dunoon to Gourock and back again." The meeting was held in response to the Scottish Government's Ferries Review, which requires a response from the Clyde FUG by the end of March.
