A MAN has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a man in Gourock's Cardwell Road early on Sunday morning.

McIntyre is accused of carrying out the assault to the man's severe injury in an attempt to murder him and all to the danger of his life.

The accused, of Cardwell Road, was represented by solicitor Edward Sweeney during a brief appearance from custody before Sheriff John Herald on Monday afternoon.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody after an application for bail was refused.

The case was continued for further examination, with McIntyre expected to appear again later this month.
