ROYAL Gourock Yacht Club's annual charity raft race takes place today.
It starts at 1pm, and organisers say everyone is invited along to join in the fun.
A record number of entries is expected, the club's social convener, Alison Allan said today.
She said: "Saturday will see Gourock firefighters vying with teams from Dominos Pizza and Greenock Wanderers, together with assorted teams from Royal Gourock itself and also Kip Marina.
"There are races for ladies and for younger members of the community, too, so everyone is catered for - and fancy dress is completely essential." There will be a barbecue from 1pm and, weather permitting, live music.
Alison added: "The social side of things will transfer indoors if it's wet, and a good time is guaranteed come rain or shine.
"This really is an open invitation to everyone, including non-members, to come along and join the fun.
"Last year we raised funds for all sorts of charities from the RNLI to Cancer Research to the kidney dialysis unit at IRH, and had loads of fun in the process." Teams can still enter the race by calling Sid Barnett on 07876 526402.
