A GOUROCK man was stopped dead in his tracks after seeing the face of Jesus in the middle of the night — in a rose bush.

David Rollo, 65, spotted a spooky image of a face after he sudenly felt that eyes were on him while watching a late night western film on TV.

The retired painter and decorator was on his way to make a cup of tea and was left stunned when he looked out the window and noticed what looked like someone staring straight at him from a rose bush at the Riverside Gardens complex in Gourock where he lives.

On closer inspection David was even more taken aback to find the face bore a striking resemblance to Jesus.

He told the Tele: “It was freaky.

“I thought it was somebody looking right at me at 2.30 in the morning.

“I was making a cup of tea in between watching a film and just had a feeling someone was looking over.

“You usually hear about people seeing Elvis on a loaf of bread but this was dead weird — unbelievable.

“I was trying to figure out what it was at first but I was wanting to get back to my film.

“Quite a few people agree it looks like Jesus.” Quick-thinking David took a picture as proof — and to make sure his mind was not playing tricks on him.

He then went back to the same spot the next morning and the ‘face’ was still there.

David took a daytime picture to compare to the original and showed them to friends and family, who agree the resemblance is uncanny.

He added: “The bush has been cut back since then but it’s starting to grow in the same way again.” But the OAP has stopped short of saying there is divine intervention at work.

He said: “It’s just the way the bush grows.”
