A SCHOOLBOY has been arrested following an alleged ‘serious’ attack on three teachers at a Gourock secondary.

A fourth year pupil at St Columba’s High School was involved in an altercation with members of staff which led to police being called in.

The shocking incident took place yesterday morning.

Officers were called to the Fletcher Avenue school just before 10am after the alarm was raised.

Three police cars immediately rushed to the scene to deal with the incident.

Sergeant Allan O’Hare of Greenock police told the Telegraph that a 15-year-old male had been arrested for an alleged assault.

He was taken to Greenock police station before being released and will now be dealt with by the children’s panel.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland added: “Around 9.45am police were called to a disturbance at St Columba’s High School in Gourock.

“A 15-year-old boy will be reported to the Scottish Children’s Reporter’s Administration in connection with alleged assaults on three male staff members, aged 61, 58 and 54.” No weapons were involved in yesterday’s incident.

No one was badly injured during it but education bosses confirmed that a significant incident had taken place.

They did not say exactly what had happened during the course of the disturbance.

An Inverclyde Council spokesman said: “A serious incident occurred this morning involving a fourth year pupil and a number of members of staff. No weapons were involved and no-one suffered any serious injuries.

“Police were called and staff and pupils have worked together to ensure the school returned to normal as quickly as possible.”
