TOP retailer The Edinburgh Woollen Mill is set to open a brand new store in Gourock in just eight days time — creating six local jobs.

The 2,000 square foot outlet will begin trading within the hugely popular Cardwell Garden Centre, pictured, on Thursday 4 December, it’s been announced.

A mixture of positions will be created within the new shop, including a new full-time store manager as well as other full-time and part-time roles.

Area manager Catriona Simpson said: “We’re delighted to see The Edinburgh Woollen Mill join the retail mix on offer in Gourock and the surrounding area.

“As we continue to grow throughout the UK, we consistently pride ourselves on bringing quality, fashionable and affordable clothing to the UK high street.

“Our Cardwell store is the perfect example, delivering exciting ranges which are exclusive to our stores.” The first 20 customers to make a purchase will receive a special goody bag — complete with a novelty Scottie dog, shortbread, a scarf and money off vouchers.

The Edinburgh Woolen Mill is one of the largest high street chains in the UK and the company’s store at Cardwell will be part of a portfolio of 380 shops.

A fun ‘Search for Scottie’ competition is also being held on opening day, with 20 lucky winning visitors being rewarded with gift vouchers.

The store at Lunderston Bay will feature some of the retailer’s most sought-after men’s and ladies wear, including Country Rose and Isle.

A full range of accessories and garments by labels such as James Pringle and Honor Millburn will also be in stock and available to buy just in time for Christmas.

Area manager Catriona said: “We can’t wait to open the doors of our new store to visitors.

“Customers can expect to be greeted by a new and friendly team who will be on hand to showcase exactly what The Edinburgh Woollen Mill has to offer.”
