TEENAGER Michael Burrows of Gourock has been chosen to fight May’s general election in Inverclyde for the UK Independence Party.
UKIP candidate Peter Campbell received 433 votes in the 2010 general election, and the party’s Mitch Sorbie got 288 a year later at the by-election which followed the death of Labour MP David Cairns.
Current MP Iain McKenzie will contest the election again for Labour, and the SNP candidate is expected to be announced early next month.
The four SNP prospective candidates — Inverclyde Council SNP leader Councillor Chris McEleny, former Yes Inverclyde leader Ronnie Cowan, chartered accountant Ian McDougall and Elizabeth Robertson, who works in the council’s education department — will be out and about in Greenock on Saturday seeking last-minute votes from party members.
